A woman and her two children have been arrested by the police in Anambra State for allegedly assaulting her 75-year-old husband.
The suspect, Esther Obidigwe, along with her children, Ozioma and Obuka, was taken into custody in Awba-Ofemili, Awka North, after a complaint filed by the victim, Mr. Romanus Obidigwe, with the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare.
Romanus, a retired senior civil servant, shared his ordeal, stating, “My family has been mistreating me for a while. Recently, my daughter, Ozioma, sold my firewood without my permission. When I confronted her, she, along with her mother and brother, attacked me, tied me up, and left me injured. A neighbor intervened, and they eventually stopped. Afterward, they locked me out of my home.”
He added, “They’ve stopped feeding me, and I’ve come to terms with that. But they often steal from me, especially my first son, who even went as far as claiming my retirement benefits from the Local Government. To keep the peace, I’ve accepted my wife’s demand for no intimacy since the year 2000.”
In response to the accusations, Obuka, the first son, denied being involved in the attack, while Esther Obidigwe confessed to the crime.
