In another development, Nigerian artist Portable has voiced out against his colleagues who claim ownership of Amapiano music genre. In a video shared on Instagram, Portable urged fellow musicians to prioritize promoting Afrobeat and not to mimic South African beats.
He criticized artists focusing on Amapiano music, urging them to return to promoting Afrobeat, suggesting that this could lead to international recognition, possibly even a Grammy Award.
Indeed, the celebrations continue for Nigeria’s AFCON victory, and the music industry debates over genre ownership are heating up.
